Health matters. Anybody who has had any sort of health problem will tell you that health is the most valuable thing in the world. You can be the richest person on the planet, but real wealth comes from being healthy. Why is it that so many of us fail to look after ourselves properly? Why do we pay ourselves so little proper attention?

It's a sad thought that many of us pay far more attention to our cars than we do to ourselves. Somehow we believe that our body will take care of anything we throw at it. We don't exercise it so it starts to atrophy and lose its fitness. However, just like a car, it needs to be looked after if it is going to perform well and not let us down.


Why is it that we allow ourselves to put on weight and compromise our ability to function properly? It's not as if we don't know what we are doing. We have mirrors and we have scales. We can see when things are getting out of shape. So why do we allow it to happen? It doesn't make a great deal of sense, does it? It particularly doesn't make sense when being overweight can lead to serious disease and make our life in our later years very uncomfortable.


Good health is more than just good luck. You have to work at it if you want to keep healthy. If you want to lose weight you have to work at it. Despite what many diet advertisements might tell you, successful weight loss is not instant, it takes time and effort no matter what program you go on.
